This is a great thing you guys are doing here. I just wonder why Scott Walker and Milwaukee County government aren't doing their fair share???

I went down to look at the Memorial today. A couple of things stood out; The Granite is in wonderful shape. There are no stains or scratches. Cleaning of the granite will only require water and paper towels.

The bricks however are in a desperate need of cleaning. It appears there have been a few bottles broken on the bricks. The glass needs to be swept up . There is an ample supply of goose droppings and weeds between the bricks. In addition there is discarded gum spots all over. The names on the bricks are not etched into the bricks but printed on them. There are some bricks that are getting hard to read. Great care needs to be taken with the cleaning of these bricks too much scrubbing could damage them.

There are also two areas for future bricks that currently have grass. These areas need raking and the edges along the surrounding side walk need trimming.

What supplies will we need?

Garbage bags

Soft bristled scrub brushes

Buckets

Distilled water for cleaning the Benches and small monuments.

Brooms and a dust pan

Paper towels

Rakes

Edger

Bring knee pads to help pick weeds and scrape gum.

We have a small budget from Chapter 324 to purchase many of these items. However, if you have a broom, rake, or edger bring it and it will be put to use.

It’s our memorial. If we don’t care for it who will?
Looking forward to seeing many of you there.
