Profile Information

Are you a:
Veteran
What Military Branch did you serve?
Army
What call sign, or nickname where you known by?
SkyKiller, Ace

About me....

I served from 1984-87 as 67N10 (Utility [Huey] Helicopter Repairer).  I made Specialist E-4 and worked as a crewchief/doorgunner and logged over 250 hours in the air.

I was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division/Fort Ord, CA and NEVER WENT TO NTC!  All the poor saps who flew the (then) new Blackhawks had that experience since the Hueys were phasing out of service.

Life was virtually perfect.  I even had a deal with my platoon sergeant that I could skip PT if I did 40 miles every day on my bicycle.  I used to race back then.  He just told everyone that I was flying 3rd shift.  That was actually true most of the time.

My primary aircraft was SN UH1H1965-09658.  It had been shot down and repaired a half a dozen time in Vietnam.  Every time I flew I acknowledged the combat and history of sacrifices that helicopter had carried. That was the connection to the reality far to many Veterans share.

I am extremely proud of my military service.  It took me twenty years to get to that point.

I am currently finishing a Master's Degree in Social Work.  As part of my training, I was honored to work as an intern at Zablocki VAMC with the OEF/OIF Team.  I suspect that many of you and I crossed paths, and I think of you often.  I hope that I was able to help.

I have admired Dryhootch from its start and look forward to becoming more involved, as i am able.  I guess this is a good start!
