How Amateur Radio helps in the effort to get the news out about Dryhootch.

Posted on December 21, 2009 at 4:57am 0 Comments

Veterans Media Services uses other media sources, besides the internet and television, to call attention to our veterans and the fine groups, like Dryhootch, who serve them. One of those other media sources is Amateur Radio. I’ve been a FCC licensed amateur radio operator since the early 1980s. These days I own and operate an internet radio link station under the call sign N9MBI, which gives myself and other Ham Radio operators global access to other link stations world wide. Even if your not a… Continue

Hi David,

Thank you so much for one - protecting our country and second wanting to help us out. I have attached the booklet with all of their stories and sculptures. Below is a PSA. I know time is running out, but I am looking for a Christmas Miracle. Or maybe drop back and punt or throw a Hail Mary Pass.

cheers

Patty

This project allows America’s Veterans in Milwaukee to channel their Post Traumatic Stress Disorder feelings by creating sculptures with found objects. The Charles Allis Art Museum offers them a safe place for them to go, tell their story through art, and without any fear of consequences.

Through the assistance of two outstanding artists and art therapists from Milwaukee Veterans Administration Hospital, they will enable these veterans to channel their feelings and tell their stories through art. Each workshop is three hours long for four weeks. After the veterans have completed their works of art, the Charles Allis Art Museum will host an exhibit. During opening night, the public has the opportunity to meet and talk with these veterans about their sculptures. Our goal is offer this program quarterly.

I’ve very much enjoyed being able to construct this robot while here at the local VA Hospital and rescuing my life back to structure and discipline. Thank you again for this opportunity.”

A Christmas Miracle

Our project is Empowering our American Veterans through Art workshop. We are positive you have touched many lives by serving our Country. Now it is our time to support and “Thank you.” After fighting for our freedom, Veterans come home and are suffering PTSD. These workshops help them work through their trauma.

To date, we have raised 13% of our goal. We have partnered with the GlobalGiving Foundation to participate in its Open Challenge, a fundraising opportunity for nonprofit organizations working around the world.

In order to succeed in GlobalGiving’s Open Challenge, the Charles Allis Art Museum must raise $4,000 from 50 donors by December 22, 2010.

Please help us reach the threshold of $4,000 from 50 donors! Be one of the first people to make a donation at http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/empowering-our-american-veterans-through-art/ Not only will your donation help the Veterans Art program at the Charles Allis but, it will help us take advantage of a long-term fundraising opportunity!

Warm Regards,

Patty Redeker

Hi: My name is Bob Noreen and my wife and I are members of Kenosha St. Mary's Lutheran Church Homeland Ministry Committee. We thank you for the presence you provided when attending our Michael Orban Presentation back in May. Our Committee is still going through growing pains but I feel that we have a handle on what we feel the group has an interest in, and we are moving into adding an advisory board/support group for military veterans and their families.

Hi, David, thanks for the comments! I would be happy to share my videos with you, just let me know what you want. I am having trouble viewing the videos and music at this site. It always worked before. Anyway, I saw your videos at your other site; very cool. ~ Sarge ~

I just heard that you had a minor stroke so I wanted to let you know I am hoping for you to have a speedy recovery. You have helped to contribute to the vision of dryhootch.org and you've found something you enjoy doing.

Thank you David, I will google & also find out if it is available in my area & how much download/upload (whatever it is called) chews up the juice as we are limited. I think one needs a little camera thingy which my computer don't have & whether it would handle one, I don't know.

Dave.

G'day David, sorry about the long time to respond, I have been flatout like a lizzard drinking mate, not only at work but trying to finalise my new book for release in the States soon.

I have heard of skype but don't know to much about it, I am not very computer literate & we had to limit our internet downloads because of costs, we also had to cancel our private health cover, to cover the new housing interest rates hike, things are not as 'rosie' as our bureaucratic economic pundits make it out to be.
Any way it is always great to hear from any of you blokes.
