Dollar General at 5679 South 27th St. will be donating toys bought at their store for the children of our military personnel to say "thank you for serving" to our many families who have children whose parents are or have served our Country.
Please stop by the store and say thank you to the General Manager, Terry, and his staff for thinking of us at this time. They want to make sure that every child has something for christmas, a book, a puzzle, a toy, etc. The most important message that Dollar… Continue

Wisconsin Warrior Summit - Part 2 - "Shot Between the Eyes: The View from the Veterans"

Personal stories are powerful - they make people, places, events "real"!
A very special "thank you" to Kathy Rodrick who shared the story of her son, Kevin. Kevin seemed to look forward to his service to our Country - and he served our Country well in the Military. His story, however, ended not like what we would want.
My reflection: We are called here to this summit to become more aware of the possibility of suicide among our Veterans and we are called to reach out in every way possible to brin… Continue

Wisconsin Warrior Summit - Keynote Speaker: Mr. John Scocos Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs

Mr. Scocos has just returned from his second tour in Iraq.
He started with a powerful statement: ONE % OF THE POPULATION SERVES OUR COUNTRY - THESE ARE OUR VETERANS! They have a right to housing, health and hope!
My comment and reflection: that leaves 99% of us to embrace our Veterans who have served our Country!
That means 99% of us are called to provide the appropriate housing and health care for our Veterans.
Later Dr. Michael McBride said that guilt and grief are so prevelant among our retur… Continue

Thank you for your welcome, and I look foreword to seeing you again soon
God Bless

I would love to keep in contact. I am now living in Omaha, Nebraska. My husband and I moved here last November to be close to a son and his family. I have been able to find the Veterans community and find if fun. The Va here is somewhat smaller, but I can find volunteer opportunities there also. Thanks for thinking of me. Phyllis

Greetings:
I'm still trying to figure-out and get use to this Dryhootch web site. I finally figured out how to send messages to people; albeit not private, which is OK. My cell# is 414-243-1999, please call me so we can make arrqangement to attend the 8AM meeting at MU for Peacemaking group. You mentioned me picking you up, but I need your address. Also I'm attending Vespers for Archbiship designate Listecki on Sunday evening and I'd pick you up for that if you have a need. Wishing everyone a Joy filled New Year.
My love to all, Walt

Hi Sister Ann Catherine,
Yes, I was the photographer at the MAM last night, my husband Mark was my wonderful assistant! I've been a member of Post 18 too, more invisible lately but you and I have crossed paths before. Maybe if we can each slow down when we see each other next we can have the opportunity to get to know each other better :) Thanks for all that you do! Nancy :)
