Whispering Death

Whispering Death "Tuag Nco Ntsoov": ...Our Journey with the Hmong in the Secret War for Laos . . .

"Whispering Death . . . is a shattering account of an eighteen-year old aviator from the streets of America to Vietnam, into the Macomb world of a Secret War run by the CIA, fought with clandestine forces, the Hmong hill people, and a vast and varied air armada.

"This is a book that must be read . . . I highly recommend this book for knowledge of how the Secret War in Laos was fought and why we owe the Hmong so much."

Harry C. Aderholt - Brigadier General USAF, Ret.

George Carlin & PTSD

George Carlin quote:

"I don't like words that hide the truth. I don't like words that conceal reality. I don't like euphemisms, or euphemistic language. And American English is loaded with euphemisms.

"What Happened to Respect" from our brother Jim Eichelberger

We're hearing a lot recently about big splashy memorial services. One of the "Band of Brothers" soldiers died on June 17, 2009 ? just 8 days before Michael Jackson ? and yet, no media coverage. I want a nationwide memorial service for Darrell "Shifty" Powers.

Shifty volunteered for the airborne in WWII and served with Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infa… Continue

Response to Okerlund OpEd Piece: Vietnam veterans stay mum about Iraq?

Matt Okerlund • mokerlund@argusleader.com • September 7, 2008

Since the Iraq War began in March 2003, veterans of the Vietnam War haven't said much. That is not a criticism. Nor is it a plea. It is only an observation made after five years of witnessing a war without end.

Why the "Dryhootch"

PTSD, when the war follows you home. We do not deal easily with what we cannot see. You can feel empathy for the suffering of a wounded soldier struggling with the loss of his or her limbs. But can you feel the anguish of a warrior whe

Do they need help with Camp Yellow Ribbon? It is being held practically down the street from me. Well, the other side of town anyway.

Thanks so much for any help you can give me Bob, and thanks very much for your comment/email. I look forward to hearing from you again and I hope you will not mind when I respond if I ask you some questions I will try not to intrude too much as I understand that some memories are painful. I was able to contact another pilot, and he sent an email to some of the guys he knew in the Mohawk Association to see if anyone knew Bobby. Anything you can find out will be much appreciated. You are very kind, and I will not forget you for this. Patsy

I read your book and I am reading it over again now, trying to piece together what part my brother had in the 131st in 1965-66. He disappeared with the pilot in 1966, and he was on an OV-1B. You listed his name in the 80 Aviators that you dedicated your book to. I have tried to contact you in every possible way, but I have heard nothing yet. Please respond, as my father is 90 years old and he cries each time my brother's name is mentioned. My mom died never knowing what happened to him, and I will never give up trying to find out. Would you please contact me? I know it is hard for you to remember everything, but it has been very hard living this long and never knowing anything. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi Bob, I'll assume you're the webmaster here so I'll post this to you. I am a SDV and own and operate a small engraving/signage business in S.E. lower Michigan. If any of your members and or affiliates need plaques, trophies or signage etc. or just want advice on stuff like that I would like to offer my services and/or knowledge to them. I'm new here so I don't know the best way to "advertise" this but am hoping you'll let me know. Thanks in advance, Joe

Greetings Bob:
I know you'll be busy on Friday, but could you spend several minutes with me to discuss your ideas about providing PCs for Vets and staff at DryHootch. Independence First has committed six refurbished PCs for your use. Also a DSL internet service would be needed for internet access. I'll look for you on Saturday.
Love and peace, Walt
