Milwaukee Area Colleges - Benefit Concert Series

Dear Dryhootch Crew:

Hook up with a group of veterans attending Alverno, Marquette & UW-Milwaukee and have them sponsor benefit concerts through the respective student activities coordinator/director and the student activities board/council. You can get G4V artists and some other acts to make the bill a varied styles event that will bring in a nice crowd and outside of the vet/students doing some paperwork, promotion through the campus newspaper and campus TV & radio
facilities, is a low cost win/win situation. My vet buddies back in the early 1970's did this with great success at the University of Iowa and throughout my career all over the nation. Should work for your cause as well. The schools foot the bill for advertising, the venue facility, the sound system ( unless the acts want to bring their own ) and a built in
audience. Ensure the PUBLIC is aware of these concerts and are aware they may attend as well, and you will be pleasantly surprised at how well this will work

MARK:
Please mail me the findings from the research project done @ UW-M. This is the kind of data that may prove invaluable to your new facility to ease the transition from a combat zone to the campus for some veterans.
Always nice to have CURRENT information to use as ammunition for future events AND when you approach the media. THANKS ! and keep the faith.

For BOB, JOE & MARK - Fundraising Team:
Mark called me this morning and we discussed my writing up a basic proposal manual for combined operations ( Dryhootch & Guitars For Vets ) to set up benefit concerts @ colleges in the Milwaukee AO.
Please contact Mark for an update. I will try and get this Field Manual off in the mail to Mark's home address NLT Thursday the 12th. It should enable your crew to walk through the procedures and necessary paperwork to make this happen. Mark wants to use UW-M as a preliminary objective, which makes perfect sense from here. You can always apply "lessons learned" towards Marquette, Alverno and Bryant & Stratton in the future. The manual will be sent "Priority- Next Day Service" USPS. Run as many copies as you wish.
You should know that THE honcho for WI Public TV has contacted me about performing all 3 days for the
May 21st > 23rd LZ Lambeau Event in Green Bay next year. They haven't even established an entertainment committee yet, which shows you how far in advance I like to work to garner performances.
As I told Mark, your crew and G4V are under NO obligation or expectation to utilize my music for ANY event you have planned. This is being done because I believe it is a righteous cause worthy of my volunteering the time and effort to assist you in reaching your goals.
You might want to consider a HOUSE concert at someone's home for an intimate immediate fund raiser to
be able to afford brochures, flyers, copying and printing costs for future events. Besides, a simple event like that might be able to entice UW-M activities board members and their full time director a badly needed
"live auditon" and after gig party to discuss in detail what you'd like to accomplish. I know it sounds devious,
but you never know until you ask.

Great Idea Lem. I will start looking into it. I've also been thinking of something to that affect. I have a few people I will contact (i.e. other bands and performers). Will keep you posted.
