For those who would like to hear a great story about a USN ship at the Fall of Saigon, go to
www.npr.org and type "The Forgotten Ship" into the search and click on "go". You will find a series of stories about the USS Kirk DE 1087. This about the rescue of what was left of the South Vietnam Navy and about 30 thousand plus refugees when Saigon fell.
I was at the Kirk reunion this past July in DC. I met a few of these former refugees and some are now serving in the US armed forces as a tribute to the rescue.
Take a look.
There is also a documentary called the "The Lucky Few" that is an hour in length that gives a much more detailed account of those events. A viewing can be arranged at the Hootch if someone is will to help me out with that.
